Lepas Johannesburg (registered company name to be confirmed) ("Lepas Johannesburg", "we", "us") is part of Minty's Motor Group and trades from Cnr Main Reef and Production Road, Amalgam, Johannesburg. We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect through this website, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Contact details you give us in a form: name, mobile number, email address, city and suburb.
- Details of your request: the model, trim or colour you are interested in, test drive or service dates, your vehicle's registration number, VIN and mileage, and your message.
- For a trade-in: details and photographs of your current vehicle and whether finance is still owed on it.
- For a finance application: the information on the application form and any documents you attach (for example your ID, payslips or bank statements).
- Technical information: your IP address (used to stop spam) and, if analytics is switched on, how you use the website. See our cookie policy.
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry, arrange a test drive or service booking, and prepare a quote or trade-in valuation.
- To submit your finance application to the bank or finance house you choose, with your consent.
- To meet our legal obligations, for example the Financial Intelligence Centre Act and the National Credit Act.
- To tell you about offers and new models, only if you have agreed to this. You can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only where needed for your request: with banks and finance houses (finance applications), with Lepas South Africa and the Chery group (warranty, service plan, roadside assistance and vehicle registration), with insurers you ask us to approach, and with service providers who host this website and our email, under contracts that require them to protect it. Some of these providers may store information outside South Africa, in countries with adequate data protection.
How we protect and keep it
Form submissions are stored in a password-protected system that only our staff can open. Documents attached to finance applications are kept in a private folder that cannot be reached from the internet and are deleted once the application is finished. We keep enquiries for as long as needed to serve you and to meet legal record-keeping periods, and then delete them.
WhatsApp, phone and email
If you contact us on WhatsApp, your messages are also subject to WhatsApp's own privacy policy. We use the number you give us only to deal with your request.
Your rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to its use, and withdraw consent to marketing. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
